Dr. Vandenbusche is a legendary educator, coach and Colorado outdoorsman. He recently retired from Western Colorado University as a professor of history after a 60 year career and also won 12 NCAA championships as a cross country and track and field coach. Vandenbusche served as Colorado State Historian in 2020 and is the author of 11 books and numerous articles on Western Slope and Colorado history.

Tales of the Gunnison country covers the many exciting stories of mining, rail-roads, skiing, cattle and people along with many others that made the area famous in the history of Colorado and the West.
